Dua for when studying something difficult

اللهم لا سهل إلا ما جعلته سهلا أنت تجعل الحزن إذا ما شئت سهلا

Allahumma la sahla illaa ma ja-’altahu sahla wa anta taj ‘alu al hazana ithaa shi’ta sahla

O Allah ! Nothing is easy except what You have made easy. If You wish, You can make the difficult easy.

Dua for laziness among other things

اَللّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعِجْزِ ، وَالْكَسْلِ، وَالْجُبْنِ ، وَالْهَرَمِ ، وَالْبُخْلِ ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ    
                                         عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ.

Allâhumma innî acûdhu bika minal-ajzi wal-kasli wal-jubni wal-harami wal-bukhli, wa a’udhbika min adhabil qabri, wa a’udhubika fitnatil mahya walmamat.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, anxiety and sorrow, and I seek refuge in You from the torments of grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trials and tribulations of life and death.

It was narrated that Zayd ibn Khaalid al-Juhani said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever gives iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.”
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 807; Ibn Maajah, 1746. Classed as saheeh by Ibn Hibaan, 8/216 and by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami, 6415.
Shaykh al-Islam [Ibn Taymiyah] said: What is meant by giving him iftaar is giving him enough to satisfy him. Al-Ikhtiyaaraat, p. 194

Hassan Al-Basree:

“Those who were before you used to often consider the nearness of death. One of them would often take water for purity, fulfill the call of nature and perform ablution, fearing that Allaah’s Command (death) might come to him while he is not in a state of purity.”

Kitab Az Zuhd, page 99.

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:

“Being satisfied and sufficed (with Allaah) opens a door of safety for the slave, and it cleanses his heart of deception, corruptionand rancour. And none will be saved from the punishment of Allaah, except the one who comes to Allaah (on the Day of Judgement) with a pure heart. Likewise, there cannot be peacefulness of the heart alongside discontentment and an absence of satisfaction (with Allaah); and whenever the slave’s satisfaction (with his Lord) becomes stronger, his heart is more at peace. So malice, corruption and deception are companions of discontentment, and peacefulnesspiety and sincerity of the heart are companions of satisfaction. Likewise, envy is from the fruits of discontentment and the heart’s safety from it is from the fruits of satisfaction (with Allaah).”

Question: Noble Shaykh, I notice some people, whilst in the sujood (position) they lift one of their feet, or (even) both. So what is the ruling regarding this action?

Response: It is not permissible for the one in sujood to lift any of the (required) seven (body) parts (from the ground), because the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) said:

((I have been commanded to make sujood upon seven parts (of the body): upon the length of the nose to the forehead, and he pointed with his hand to his nose, upon the palms of the hand, upon the knees and upon the tips of the toes)).

So if anyone lifts one foot or both of them, or (lifts) his hand or both of them, or (lifts) his nose or his forehead of both of them, then certainly his sujood is nullified and not counted, and if his sujood is nullified, then indeed his (entire) salaah is nullified.

“A servant will have his rank raised and will say, ‘O my Lord how has this come about for me?’ He says, ‘through your sons after you seeking forgiveness for you'”
