Shyness is of two types:

1. What consists of character and disposition and cannot be acquired. Shyness is the behavior Allah granted the servant. The Prophet sallallahu alayhe was salaam said ” Shyness brings about nothing but good.” It prohibits a person from committing despicable actions and displaying degrading behavior.

2.What is attainable through knowing Allah and knowing His greatness as well as His closeness to His servants. His overseeing them, and His knowledge of what deceives the eyes while being hidden in the chests.

Shyness from Allah may be caused by witnessing and reflecting over His blessings and the shortcomings associated with being thankful for them.

The praiseworthy shyness is the behavior that encourages the performing of commendable actions and abandoning the wretched.

Concerning the statement : ” If you do not feel shy then do as you wish .” One meaning is that it does not command to do whatever you wish, but it conveys a meaning of blame and prohibition. One way of interpreting it is that it conveys a threat/warning. The second way to interpret it is that it is a way of conveying information. The thing that prohibits a person from doing bad actions is shyness.

An-Nawawee said , The Scholars said that the reality of shyness is the character that encourages the abandonment of despicable actions and prevents against negligence concerning the rights of the people who possess rights over others.

Aboo Al Qaasim al Junayd said Shyness is recognizing Allahs favors, meaning His blessings and the recognizing of ones own negligence in light of them both.

When shyness is lost, every type of evil is committed.

There are five signs of wretchedness :

1. The harshness in the hearts
2. The unflinching eye
3. The lack of shyness
4. The seeking of worldy pleasures.
5. Longevity in life

An example of shyness is Asmaa bint Aboo Bakr in the hadeeth where she carried the date stones and was offered to ride behind the Prophet sallallahu alayhe was salaam but was too shy.

Fiqhul ‘Ibaadaat: P.59

We wish to know what things enable Eemaan to increase and what things make it decrease?

As far as the things that make Eemaan increase, then from them:

The first reason: To know Allaah Ta’aala with His names and attributes. Indeed whenever a person’s knowledge of Allaah and His names and attributes increases, then his Eemaan increases without a doubt as a result. This is why you will find that the people of knowledge, those who know about the names and attributes of Allaah what others do not, you will find that they have stronger Eemaan than other than them from this perspective.

The second reason: To Ponder over the Ayaat (signs) of Allaah, Both the universal and legislated signs. Indeed whenever a person ponders over the universal Ayaat, which is the creation; the heavens, the earth, humans, animals and other than that, will increase in Eemaan. Allaah Ta’aala says:

{And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty. And also in your own selves, Will you not then see?}

There are many verses that prove this. What I mean is, the verses that prove that if a person was to ponder and contemplate upon the universe, his Eemaan as a result will increase.

The third reason: To practice a lot of good deeds, for whenever a person increases in practicing good deeds, his Eemaan will increase, whether these deeds are from the deeds of the tongue or actions of the body parts. For indeed Dhikr, (remembrance of Allaah) increases Eemaan in its amount (i.e. the number of times one makes Dhikr) as well as in the way it is practiced. Salaat and Sawm (fasting) as well, and Hajj increases Eemaan as in regards to the number of times it is practiced, as well as in regards to the way in which it is practiced.

As for the reasons why Eemaan decreases then it is the complete opposite of what has been mentioned. So ignorance of the names and attributes of Allaah will make Eemaan decrease. Because if a person does not know the names and attributes of Allaah, then he lacks knowledge of them that [if he had] would in turn enable him to increase in Eemaan.

The second reason: That one does not ponder over the universal and legislated Ayaat of Allaah. Indeed this causes Eemaan to decrease, or in the least will stop its growth .

Thirdly: Falling into sins, for indeed the sin has a tremendous effect on the heart and on Eemaan!. This is why the messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه و سلم said:

“The zaanee (adulterer) does not commit zinaa (adultery) while he is a believer at the time of the act.”

Fourthly: Leaving off obedience (to Allaah and his Messenger), for indeed leaving off obedience is from the reasons that decrease one’s Eemaan. However, if this certain action of obedience was Waajib (compulsory), and one leaves it without a reason, then this is a decrease in Eemaan that one is blameworthy as well as punished for. But if it isn’t Waajib, or it is Waajib and one leaves it with an excuse, then it is a decrease of Eemaan that one is not punished for. This is why the Messenger of Allaah declared that women are deficient in ‘Aql (mentality) and Deen (Religion), and the reason he said that they had a deficiency in their Deen is because they do not pray or fast during their menses, rather they are ordered not to pray or fast, but because they are unable to practice these actions (during menses) that a man is able to practice , they decrease (in Deen) compared to a man from this perspective.

‘‘Alee ibn Abee Taalib said, “Allaah’s messenger (s.w.) sent me to Yemen as a judge, so I asked, ‘Oh messenger of Allaah! You are sending me and I am young, and I have no knowledge of giving judgement?’ He replied, ‘Allaah will guide your he…art and keep your tongue firmly (attached to the truth). When two litigants sit before you, do not decide until you have heard what the other has to say the way you heard the first, for it is more suitable for the correct judgement to become clear to you”

And whoever fasts ‘Ashoorah, then he is forgiven the year.” Narrated by Tabaranee with an isnaad that is Hasan.

Shaykh, ‘Allaamah , Saaleh ibn Fawzaan al-Fawzaan
All perfect praise is for Allaah , The Lord of All the worlds. And may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon our Prophet Muhammad , his family and his companions.

To proceed :
Surely The issues of aqeedah (creed) , are very important matters. It is a must to learn all of the aqeedah , in all its branches and all the matters relating to it. And also (it is a must) to refer to the people of knowledge. It does not suffice to just put forth questions and getting the answers. This is because no matter how many questions are asked and answered ; there will still be much ignorance. Thus it is a must on the one who wants benefit for himself , and benefit for his muslim brothers ; to learn the ‘aqeedah (creed) from its beginning to its end . And to study into into different sections and branches , and to refer and study from the Scholars. And to take the aqeedah from the original beneficial books , the books of the Salaf u saalih ; And at this point ; he or she will cease to be in ignorance , and will have no need of too many questions. And also (at this point) he will be able to clarify to the people the correct aqeedah. And to teach the ignorant ; the correct aqeedah. This is because he will have insight and knowledge in aqeedah (because of studying and referring to the scholars).

Also, [ it has to be known ] that one should not learn the aqeedah from reading in books only ; this is because he will not get the foundations and the essence of it -from these books only. Rather he has to take these from the scholars , and the people of insight ; those who have a great understanding of the aqeedah , those who have wisdom on the issues of aqeedah. This is our advice : an obligation to those who are students of knowledge.

As for the matter of having so many questions in the matters of aqeedah , the cause is :
– either from people who haven’t studied before .
– Or people who speak about matters of aqeedah by ignorance , or by only having read books .
And this only increases in the blindness , and leads to problems on top of problems , and it invalidates the efforts (of spreading the correct aqeedah) , and it leads to differing. This is because the level of understanding is different within everybody ; therefore if we resort to our own reading and understandings – without taking the knowledge from its sources and referring to the Scholars – then this will lead to differing , and oppositions in this very important matter. And this religion of ours , has come to us with agreement and consensus , and lack of divisions. And the religion has come with allegiance to the people of ‘Eeman (faith) and adversity to the kuffar (disbelievers) ; But all of these are not complete except by reffering the matters of the religion from the sources (Quran and Sunnah) , and from the scholars who carry this Deen (religion) from those before them (the Salaf) , and they learnt it from them (those before them) , and they teach those after them. This is the path of the correct knowledge: in aqeedah and in all other matters. But the emphasis on aqeedah is more important , because it is the foundation . And if there is going to be differences in it ; then that will be an opportunity for misguidance , and an opportunity of differing between the Muslims. And also we don’t need any new innovations to be authored in matters of aqeedah. Rather , sufficient for us ; are the books of the scholars of the Salaf , and those who follow them.

And with Allaah is guidance.

· Allah‘s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged the Muslims to safeguard Fajr and Asr.

Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “ We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he looked at the moon on a full moon night and said,” Certainly you will see your Lord as you see this moon and you will have no trouble seeing Him. So if you can avoid missing (through sleep or worldly affairs) a Salah before sunrise and before sunset, you must do so.” He the recited Allah’s verse: “ And glorify the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its’ setting.” [50:39] [ Bukhari 554]

* Ibn Rajab (may Allah have mercy on him) said,” This hadeeth establishes that Allah will be seen in Jannah. .. This hadeeth points to the great importance of Fajr and Asr prayers. They are the best out of the five daily prayers. And for that reason some people call both of them the middle prayer.” [ Fathul Bari 4/ 554 maktabul Ghurabah1996]

· Angels come in succession at Fajr and Asr.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said,” Angels come to you in succession by night and day and all of them get together at the time of Fajr and Asr prayers. Those who have passed the night with you ascend and Allah asks them, though he knows everything about you, “ In what state did you leave my slaves?” The angels reply: When we left them, they were praying and when we reached them they were praying.” [ Bukhari 555]

· Whoever prays Fajr and Asr will enter Paradise. [ inshallah]

Abu Bakr ibn Abe Musa narrated that his father told him that Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever prays the the two cool Salat (Asr and Fajr prayers) will enter Paradise.” [Bukhari 574]

· The Morning and Evening supplications are done at these times.

..and glorify your Lord by the praising of Him before the rising of the sun
and before its setting, and during hours of the night do also glorify (Him) and during parts of the day, that you may be well pleased [Taha 130 ]

..and sing the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the setting.[ Qaf 39 ]
· The recitation of the Quran is witnessed at Fajr and Asr.

…and the morning recitation; surely the morning recitation is witnessed [Isra 78]
* Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih AL-Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him said,” This witnessing also applies to Asr, because the recording Angels gather together at that time too.”[ Sharhus Saheeh Al-Bukhari 1/143]
· Allah will been seen in Jannah after Asr and Fajr

* Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali (may Allah have mercy on him) said,” Since these are the two special times when the people of Paradise will see Allah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urged the Muslims to safeguard them in this world. [Al-Muhajjah fee seerid Daleejah ]
