And have you seen the water that you drink?

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

And have you seen the fire that you ignite? Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

(Surah al-Waqi’ah, Verses 68-74).

O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do?

Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do.

(Surah as-Saff, Verses 2-3).

Al-Imaam Ibn al-Jawzee, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:1

“Due to al-Imaam Abu Abdillah Ahmad bin Hanbal’s strong adherence to the Sunnah and (due to) him warning against acts of innovations he use to speak against a group of the virtuous (scholars) when it would occur from them that which is in opposition to the Sunnah and that speech of his is to be hold as naseehah for the Deen”.1

Shaykul Islaam Bin Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon stated

vالمؤمن للمؤمن كاليدين تغسل إحداهما الأخرى, وقد لا ينقلع الوسخ إلا بنوع من الخشونة, لكن ذلك يوجب من النظافة والنعومة ما نحمد معه ذلك التخشين

“The believer for the believer is the likeness of two hands
washing each other.(So) perhaps the dirt can not be removed except
through sometime of roughness/ severity but however that
necessitates cleanliness and smoothness that which will leads us to
praise that roughness/severity.”

Imam Sufyaan ath-Thawri (rahimahullah) advised one of his Brothers:

“Today, people are not able to discern between truth and falsehood, and none will be saved from this predicament except for someone who invokes Allah with the same intensity and feeling with which a drowning man invokes Allah for help. Do you know anyone who is at that level? It used to be said: ‘The time draws near for the people when the wise among them will find no joy (but will instead be constantly worried about the degeneration of Muslim society).’ Fear Allah, the Possessor of might and majesty. Be a man of solitude; occupy your time with yourself (with preparing for the Hearafter); and seek companionship with the Book of Allah (Azza wa Jal).”

Question: The soul of the dead, does it come [back] and recognise what we do, in our houses for example?
Al-Albani: Never. These are superstitions which are present in the minds of some people. When a person dies his connection to the world is totally cut off.Namely, if a nuclear bomb were sent down, and you have heard about [how powerful] one of them [is], [such as the one] the Americans sent down on Japan … if hundreds of nuclear bombs were sent down on this planet the dead would not feel it whatsoever, “When a person dies, his actions are cut off except for three things …” And our Lord said in the Noble Quraan, “But you cannot make hear those in the graves.” [Faatir 35:22].
The dead do not hear, so do not believe any of these stories.

Famous statement of Imaam Malik Ibn Anas rahimahullaah who said:

“من زعم أن في الإسلام بدعة حسنة فقد زعم أن محمدا خان رسالته”

Whoever believes that there is in Islaam good innovation (bid’ah hasanah) he has believed that Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم) has not fulfilled his mission/message.

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) mentioned:
It is befitting for the servant to be firm, patient and have a constant connection to that which has within the remembrance (of Allaah) and the prayer. He should not become weary, for indeed with consistently holding fast to that, the plot of the Shaytaan will leave from him. Allaah has said:
“Indeed the plot of the Shaytaan is weak”(An-Nisaa: 76)
Also Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:
“Whenever the Eemaan (faith), the Tawheed (Islaamic Monotheism), the light of the Furqaan (the Criterion) become strong and the traces of the Prophethood and the message (sent by Allaah) become apparent the different Satanic situations become weak.”

Once a pious man was asked, “Teach me how to love Allah” to which he said “loving Allah is not bought by  teaching”.
There is a Qur`anic verse in which Allah says, “Allah will bring a people whom He will love and they wil love Him”, it is not a wonder that He says, “They will love Him”, but it is a wonder that He says “Whom He will love”.
Al Fawaa’id by Ibn al Qayyim  Al-Jawziyyah

It is narrated that ‘Uthmân b. Áffân – Allâh be pleased with him – said in a sermon

Son of Adam! Know that the angel of death who has been assigned to you has not ceased to pass you and move on to others, ever since you have been in this world. But it is as if he is about to pass someone else and move on to target you, so be careful and prepare for him (by correcting your deeds). And do not forgethim, for he does not forget you. And know o son of Adam, if you are heedless about yourself and do not prepare, no one else will prepare for you. You must meet Allah the Mighty and Majestic, so take for yourself and do not leave it to someone else. Peace be on you

Abû Bakr Al-Daynûrî, Al-Mujâlasah wa Jawâhir Al-Ílm 2: 73, 74
